We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it. This Privacy Policy describes how the StepCounter mobile application ("App") handles information collected from users.

1. Local-First Data Processing

StepCounter is designed as a local-first application. This means that the core tracking and fitness features process your data strictly on your mobile device. We do not maintain external database servers to store your fitness details or routes.

2. Data Collection and Usage

• Physical Activity & Step Tracking (android.permission.ACTIVITY_RECOGNITION): The App requires access to your device's physical activity sensor to detect walking and running motions. This data is used solely to record your daily step counts, calculate active minutes, and estimate distance walked and calories burned. This information is saved locally on your device.
• Location Data (GPS): If you use the mapping and target tracking features, the App requests location permissions to map and draw your walking routes. Your coordinates are processed entirely on your device and are not uploaded to our servers.
• User Profile Metrics: Personal details such as your name, height, weight, age, and gender are stored locally in the App's secure preferences and are used to estimate steps progress and calorie consumption metrics.
• Billing Email: To facilitate premium checkout, your email address is used locally during Google Play Billing verification.

3. Third-Party Services and SDKs

The App integrates with authorized Google services which may collect device or other identifiers for functional and diagnostic purposes:

• Google Play Billing SDK: Processes premium subscription transactions securely. No financial data is accessed or stored by the App.
• Google Maps SDK: Used to display and render maps for route tracing. Google may collect device identifiers and telemetry.
• Firebase Analytics & Crashlytics: Used to monitor App stability, track crashes, and collect anonymous usage statistics to improve App performance. These SDKs collect diagnostic logs and device identifiers.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or share your fitness, location, or personal data with advertising networks, brokers, or any third-party entities.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

Since your activity and profile data are stored locally on your device, you have complete control over it. You can delete all data permanently and instantly at any time by clearing the App's storage and cache in your device's Android settings, or by uninstalling the App.

6. Security

We implement local security measures to safeguard your data. However, please ensure your device is secured with standard screen locks or biometrics to prevent unauthorized physical access to the locally stored details.

7. Children's Privacy

The App is not designed for or targeted at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
